seven bridges road
that's what tim and i walked today. we took the wabash trace south of gaston past the train wreck this time and walked almost to highway 34. i decided to count the number of bridges we walked across this time and it came to the magic number seven. most of them aren't anything special, and if you want to remember them you have to give them names like a friends episode. on my walk that i entitled "three bridges north" (though if you count you will find four) i christened them The One by the Junk Yard, The One That's Just a Ditch, The One With the Dams, and The One at the Bend in the Road.
today's walk was actually a walk/ride. tim's feet were hurting so we were going to ride our bikes, but i have a different sort of valve stem on my tires and my special bianchi pump wasn't working so i had to walk while he rode, though we did switch every mile or two. i loved this walk because 1) tim was with me and 2) our dog is so funny.
smokey was very thirsty by the time we turned around, so at the trestle we found a way down to the river so he could get a drink and cool off. he stepped in and started drinking, then suddenly he jumped like something surprised him. he snapped at the water like he was trying to catch a fish, then started running at full speed back and forth in the river. it was actually more like hopping because the water was above his knees, so he was hopping! hopping! hopping! back and forth, then he came up on shore and tore up the bank and down the bank and we ran from him so he wouldn't spray us when he shook himself. then he hopped back in the water and started leaping down one way and back towards us again, then he would come to a hole and have to swim to where he could regain footing. he was just so happy and we couldn't stop laughing at him.
it was a happy walk.

what a beautiful walk! what a beautiful family!! i hope to come visit you soon!! very soon!! i liked the names for the bridges...very creative and funny :) you should fashion some sort of carrying device on your bike so you can take your cats with you..that would be cute! they could peer out from inside their little cat carrier place....they would probably get restless and start "mOW-ing." hehe!
